Memories are not for sale

Last weekend, there were mend and maintenance works in my grandparents' house. They are trying to patch it up again to be in a good shape. I'm afraid they intend to sell it. Grandma died recently after the death of my grandpa by 10 years bequeath that grand house with a small agrarian land and some trivial possessions.
Anyway, that house represents a special meaning to me. I spent most of my childhood years over there and always it brings back delightful and painful memories.
I was in the garret trying to gather, rearrange, and organize some stuff there, when I saw an old closet with few boxes surrounding it. I felt curious and I wanted to see what things were hidden there. I found things I didn't use to spot them for years, such as, my deceased grandpa glasses which he didn't like to put them on, my uncle's helmet, old watches…. etc.
I opened couple of the cardboard boxes and I found plenty of audio cassettes and videotapes. I remember that my mother used to listen for and watch most of those tapes when I was a kid. I quickly hurried to bring a recorder and try to play those magnetic tapes to find out if they were still valid or not. And to my surprise, they still can speak! Songs of the 70s, 80s and early 90s like, "final countdown" by Europe, "let it be" by Beetles, "brother louie" by Modern Talking, "big in Japan" by Alphaville, "eye of a tiger" by survivor and some albums for Bee Gees, Michael Jackson (when he was black :P), Pet shop boys, George Michael. Mom was a big fan of George Michael, but what a disappointment when she knew that she wasn't Georgie's type. I also found some box sets of famous blockbuster movies in the 80s (Rocky tetralogy, Indiana Jones, Conan the barbarian, Rambo, the good the bad and the ugly…. Etc. The amazing thing is each item of that stuff is in a good shape. When I asked about how could they survive so far. They answered me that my uncle (he's now in Ankara) was keeping them in this form.
I really got 20 years back and I felt sorry for selling this big house.
Anyway, I just wanna congratulate you, fellas! Merry Xmas and happy new year.
See you next year! ;)

Thank you for the well wishes, Caesar. I hope this new year brings you good things too. :)

Yes, I know. It can be difficult to look at the past. But it also can bring back good memories. With any luck there will be good memories being made in the future. :)

Oh, I just saw "The Dark Knight" last night. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend it. Gooood movie. :D Heath Ledger as the Joker was great!

That's how I feel every time i dust off the seven cassette tapes left in my Case Logic tape carrier and put one into my 1997 stereo and press "play" (all tapes are from 1991 or before). Damn! Thanks for bringing me back too man! Happy New Year, although it be a day early!

@ |Lynne,
Mmmm, i'm not a fan of Batman movies. Lastnight, I watched "Traitor" starring Don Cheadle. The movie talks about crazy arab fanatics. You should see it sometime. I'm now trying to get "Body of Lies". No no! Don't think i'm a fan of fanatism! :P

@Matt,
I still dunno where the godamned VCR is? How shall I watch those videocassettes? I think couple of them contain explicit graphic content. :P

Well, I'm not really a fan of Batman movies either. I hadn't seen one for quite a while. I rented that only to see Heath Ledger. And I wasn't disappointed. :)

Anyway, I've rented "Mama Mia" and "The Duchess" for this weekend. Yeah, I know, chick flicks. :P

Nice story. I love finding old things from my parents and relatives but I havent really had a look thru my grandmothers old stuff, and I don't really wanna keep more than some photos.
Its a bit too sad and weird.

I have the Final Countdown and Michael Jackson on my i-pod...lol

There was this Death Metal band that covered "The Final Countdown" once.... Was a pretty short song in their version, lol.

@ Lynne,
"Mama mia" sucks! I don't know about "Duchess". Anyway, don't give a mind. Enjoy the movies! ;)

@ Nakhaly,
Er.. Do you think I should prepare myself for some hot action then? :P

@ Lelly,
Nice pic! hehe, what is it anyway? btw, you didn't tell me that you made a post about Al Zaidi. Interesting! ;)

@ Mel,
And what is that metal band called?

"Mama mia" sucks!

lol!

Awwwww, I thought it was soooo cuuute! I loved the music, although not Pierce Brosnan's singing! lol!

Well, I will say, over all "The Duchess" was the better movie.

Might have some competition from Touta tho. Also I heard he was offered a 20 year old egyptian woman.

*sigh*

Be cool, girls! I'm ready to satisfy the losers as well as the winner. :P
I don't think our "shoe-thrower" will be released any time soon.
but wait a minute.. Lelly: I heard he was offered a 20 year old egyptian woman.
He was offered a lady? Wtf? Is she a piece of furniture or some kind of a reward. And who offered him her? It doesn't make any sense to me. Yes, He threw a shoe at Bush the most hatered person for some ppl. But that doesn't give the right fot this personor that to do some crazy shit about it. Meshaan Eljibouri (an expelled parliment memeber decided to buy the shoe with 150,000 $ and another guy wanted to buy it with 100,000 $. If they are so patriots and love their country why they don't spend this pile of "stolen" money on the Iraqis who badly need such kind of help rather than spending it on a stupid shoe. I don't wanna go through this any deeper. But I really find it very very very silly.
Oh, whatever! Back to our subject. I'm still available. *whistles*

" I'm still available. *whistles*".
Point made about iraqi guy's chat up lines.
Why couldn't you be more romantic and throw a shoe at someone?
:D

Pan said...

^LOL, I dunno, at least its direct and honest lol.

Yeah the egyptian lady was offered as a reward by her daddy. Nice, caring father.
The shoe throw might be silly but its something I'd quite like to do myself...so big up to the man.:P

Be cool, girls! I'm ready to satisfy the losers as well as the winner.
I'm sure. lol
*waves from safe distance of over 2,000 miles*

To Al-Zaidi : Anytime ur in the UK, babe. I'm there.

Oh, gotta tell you, they had a new "Lost" episode on the other night. 2 hours long. It was really, really good. I kind of like where they're going with the show.

(And I am not saying that only because Sawyer spent most of the show shirtless. :D)
